Our TNVR programme

Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return is an internationally accepted, effective and humane method for controlling feral populations.
It allows the current population to thrive, without the need for culling by poisening, hunting and shooting.
We don't trap our cats and dogs, we first gain their trust, in order to reduce the stress for them.

Returning to their home

We also fit ear tags as a record, which allows us to understand how effective the programme is.
Once they are fully recovered from their operation, we return them to their home. Before leaving them, we also make sure dogs they live with, accept them back.
TNVR maintains a healthy population and reduces local culling, which is indiscriminate and often results in agonising deaths.

How it works

Our volunteers identify and build trust with animals that we want to neuter.
Once they have gained their trust, we bring them back to our kennels, and then to the vets for a check up.
If there are any issues that need looking at, we work on those either before or after they are neutered.
Once they have been returned, we check on them to ensure they have been accepted back, by the other local animals.
